Why was the switched tabs event removed? This was a useful tool to see if students were leaving the quiz environment when they weren't supposed to be leaving.

"Switched tabs" is removed for re-evaluation and considered to be released in future as per document - https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/23362-quiz-switched-tab-events-in-attempt-log-have-been-removed
Looks like it will be released in upcoming releases with documentation once it is safe to do.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately that didn't answer the question as it just states the same as the document I saw, and you linked, about re-evaluating. What was wrong that it? Why was it pulled?
Also, when will it be re-released? Trying to plan for the spring semester and make my syllabi and trying to figure out if it will be released again during the semester. (Not sure what 'safe to do' refers to with the release)
