How do I program extra time for a student in a quiz?
I need to give one student extra time in a final exam "quiz." All I can find in the settings is "Manage excmptions," which allows me to make a student exempt from the test. Can't find where to adjust the settings for a particular student. Can anyone help, please?

Hi Lilly, this is controlled in one of two places - in the quiz itself, it's in the Availability, Dates and Conditions section under Special Access.
If this has been turned on, you can use the Accommodations tool in classlist (in the dropdown next to the student's name) name to set this up for all quizzes on the course.

Hi @Lilly.B.489
Thanks for reaching out to the Brightspace Community.
You can set up special access for a student to give them extra time to take a quiz.
In the Quizzes tool:
- Click the down arrow right next to the quiz you would like to extend the time for.
- Select 'Edit'.
- On the right panel, under "Availability Dates & Conditions", click "Manage Special Acess"
- Next, click "Allow selected users special access to this quiz"
- Then go to "Add Users to Special Access".
- Under "Timing", select "Override time limit"
- Then just set the new time limit for that particular student:
- Finally, under "Users", search for the student and check off their name.
- Save and close.
I hope this is useful.

It seems to make more sense to use the "accommodations" option next to the student's name in the Class List, vs having to set it up for each quiz using the "Special Access" option, no?

Hello @Cathy.M.14
Thank you for your contribution.
You are right! If the instructor wishes to set up a student with accommodations for all the quizzes of a particular term, your suggested workflow is definitely the most efficient.

Follow-up question…
Once Special Access has been set up to allow the student more time, does the student need to exit and re-enter the quiz… OR can we expect the timer to automatically update to the added time?
