Set up Journal

I was told to use the Group setting to set up Journals. However, I already have a discussion area set up. Using groups this would land the responses under discussion grading in my grade book. Is there another way to set up a Journal for individual submissions?

By creating a single-user group that uses Discussions, you can provide students with a space where they can write privately.
