Why aren't the points calculated by a Formula item included in subtotals in Grades?

I've created some Formula grade items along with Numeric ones but the subtotal doesn't include the points from the formula items. Any way to change that?

@michelle.richard-greer@sdsmt.edu You can only calculate the final grade with formula grade items using the Formula grading system. Formula grade items do not contribute to the calculated final grade in a points-based or weighted grade book.

In a situation where we need to add the outcome of a formula grade to the point-based / weighted grades, what shall be the alternative?
