Re: Creating a video submission assignment with special requirements
Hello @Holly.A.103 thank you for your question.
I have confirmed that we currently do not have a way to disable the re-recording option. While on the submission page, students can re-record as many times as they like, with only the last recording being saved when the assignment is submitted.
We do not keep logs of previous video attempts, as only the final recording is stored with the assignment.
I believe our team has already responded to your question about multiple students recording videos simultaneously in another inquiry you submitted.
Please let me know if you have any other questions related to this.
Thanks,
Daiana
Re: When assessing a discussion topic, does the evaluation screen show replies to other students?
Hello @Holly.A.103 Thanks for reaching out to Brightspace Community! Thanks for testing @Daiana.A.638 🙌
To add, the evaluation screen in Brightspace does display both the original thread and replies when assessing a discussion topic. When you use the Assess Topic or Assess Student option, it brings up all posts made by a student within that topic, including replies to other students. This allows you to evaluate all relevant interactions within the discussion in one view.
I hope that the following documentations will be able to guide you on evaluating discussions in Brightspace, including how to access all related posts during assessment, check out the discussions on Brightspace Community:

Krizzy
Re: When assessing a discussion topic, does the evaluation screen show replies to other students?
Hello @Holly.A.103 thank you for your question.
I have tested this and can confirm that when I mark a student's original thread, their reply to another student in the discussion topic also appears. Please see the attached image.
Please let me know if you have any other questions about this.
Thanks,
Daiana
Re: Where can I find information regarding this setting
The Config Vairable you're looking for is
d2l.Tools.AnonymousMarking.UseOrgDefinedId
This will change anonymous to the org defined ID. In our case, we use student ID number from our SIS.
If you don't use org defined IDs as unique identifiers as for your users, I'm not sure what the work around might be.
I'd recommend turning it on as needed for each course, then disabling again once the instructor is done.
Good luck!
Re: Where can I find information regarding this setting
Hi Desirae,
As noted in the d2l.Tools.System.Features.AnonymousMarking configuration variable must be turned by an administrator in order to enable anonymous marking.
When engaging with your institutions online learning administration team also highlight the need to adjust role permissions enabling users in those roles to access the functionality.
The Advanced Assessments features may also be of interest to you. See
Hope this helps!

Tracking students' quiz progress by referring to the orange notifications on the Grades page?
Hi D2L community,
Does anyone else here use the orange dot method to track quiz progress of students? & Has anyone encountered the issue where the orange dot disappears but the students quiz progress is still underway?
A few lecturers I know of tend to track students' quiz progress status via the Grades page (i.e. the one from Assignments & Assessments tab > Grades, not the one from the Quiz dropdown).
The student's quiz progress shows up as an orange dot if the student is in the midst of an attempt, and of course, when the student has completed and submitted the quiz, the orange dot disappears (unless it's pending grading from lecturer) and the quiz grade appears. Hence, lecturers are able to identify which students are in the midst of attempting the quiz when they note the orange dot.
Unfortunately, there've been some times when our lecturers report that they are no longer able to see the orange dot. And the next solution would be to use the Quiz > Grades > Search feature to track the students' quiz progress. While this search method works, it's a little bit more of a hassle compared to the orange dot method… which have led a few lecturers to ask about why would the orange dot disappear.
Based on the troubleshooting I've done so far, I believe there's no setting to toggle this orange dot? Appreciate any insights or sharing from the community if any. Thank you!
Final Adjusted grade denominator and zeros
Hi everyone,
Background: We are working on automating the transfer of Brightspace gradebooks to our Student Management System. To do this we have values in both the Final Calculated Grade (the majority of students) and the Final Adjusted Grade columns (those students needing adjustments after Faculty review).
A two-part question.
Our gradebooks are all out of 100 yet the unit chairs currently need to enter both the numerator and denominator in the Final Adjusted Grades column. Is there a way to auto-populate the denominator within the gradebook at an org level?
If a unit chair accidentally enters a value in the final adjusted grade column, then removes it, the gradebook returns 0/0 once saved, even though the cells look empty before saving. Is there a way to stop this happening please?
Re: how do i get an embedded object that has the bottom 'check' button cut off to display?
Hello! iframe's are notorious for being a bit tricky. If you are comfortable selecting the HTML Source Editor within the toolbar of the editor (that's the icon that looks like </> ) or using the Attributes option under the + icon, either will allow you to make some modifications to the iframe and the objects around it. First you might want to make sure that the size (height and width) of your iframe is big enough, or allows for internal scrolling. Next would be to check if there's a <div> or <p> that the iframe is within and that can also be modified with a style="overflow:hidden;" and other properties which can help with showing content that would otherwise be cut off. Additionally, if the last thing in your text was going to be that iframe and nothing else, you could try adding in just a blank line below it to ensure that the bottom of the iframe isn't cut off as well.
Hope any of those help! Feel free to make a reply if you have additional questions/need more help with what I'm suggesting as by your use of "iframe" I'm assuming you might know a little more html/css than you are leading on.
