limit number of picks of survey/discussion choice

i would like to have a discussion where there are 4 questions but each question can only be answered by 1/4 of people in the class. I want the students to pick the question they want to answer (not assign). So for a class of 20 then only 5 students can pick one of the questions in the discussion. I do not want to have 4 separate discussions. Also all students get to see all discussions posts regardless of starting point.

In an older system, we had a 'survey tool' that could limit how many people could pick a question/choice. Once students picked their choice, the system would open the discussion forum and students would see a similar worded discussion and answer the question they picked in survey. It allowed broader development of ideas in one discussion.

Is there anyway to do this in survey or discussion or anther tool?

Changing grade of quiz after students have completed quiz

Hi everyone,

If I have a quiz that was marked out of 10 and completed by students, but the mark is meant to be out of five, can I adjust this in grade centre or will it erase the students' marks? How do I adjust?

Hi Lisa,

This really is not a one-size-fits-all solution — so much depends on how Colleges have deployed their Brightspace environments, how much Faculty Development has focused on report LDA, and most critically, how the College has defined LDA vis-a-vis institutional learning environment use policies and Registrar reporting requirements.

Start with existing practices — usually in the Registrar's office, and engage with the Faculty Development folks as to how the institution is currently solving this question, and look for avenues of improvement.

@Eric.K.464 It should still be that field since that's the only code tied to org units. If the org unit type is section, then it's a section code. If the type is course offering, then it's a course offering code, etc. You can test this by navigating to a section within a course (Course Admin - Sections - click on a section name) and you'll see the Section Code on that page.

The URL to that page should include both ou and groupId at the end, such as: https://yourd2l.edu/d2l/lms/group/group_edit.d2l?ou=123456&groupId=654321

ou is the course offering OrgUnitId and the groupId is actually the section OrgUnitId in the Organizational Units data set.

Ah, that does make sense then. Well pass this information along to your local LMS/Brightspace administrator who does have permissions to see the pages I mentioned and they should be able to take care of that for you, and then you should be all set. Good luck!
