Bonus points for a pool

I have extra credit material for my students to review, and I have created question-pools out of that material, as I do not want all my students to have the same extra credit question. But I find that Brightspace will not allow me to make the questions in a pool for Bonus. Does anyone have a solution for that ? That is, is there a way to make pool-questions for extra credit ? Thanks. …Ok, I just saw that someone has asked this before. It seems there was no resolution to it. I do not understand the rational behind it.

    Hello Steven,

    Is your intention to make this entire quiz available for bonus points? Or only a select number of questions within a quiz?

    My recommendation is to use a single quiz for bonus questions only and once you attach the quiz to a grade item, edit that grade item and mark it as a bonus.

    I did check our Product Idea Exchange for any existing entries to allow random questions pools to be selected as bonus questions, but did not note any. You could also submit this idea there as well.

    Thank you, Stephen. I want to add a question or two to individual quizzes as Bonus opportunities. As a matter of fact, I do have a Bonus quiz I am using. I do not need to call it Bonus in the grade page as my grading system is a total points one, rather than an average. But I want, in addition, to add a Bonus question or two to quizzes. I cannot understand what the reason would be to prevent using a pool for such on Brightspace's part.

    Hi @Steven.P.2254, one option that might work would be to make the question pool 0 points. Hopefully, this helps.

    Zero points ? ? I'm not sure I understand that. What would be the point of even having "extra credit" for no credit ?

    Hello Steven,

    Currently, the bonus feature for a quiz is not available for Question Pools as you have mentioned. This may be for multiple reasons determined by our Product Team.

    I understand that you are looking for a workaround. As Paa has suggested, you can set the question pool to have 0 points so that users are not penalized for getting the question incorrect. If the user does get the answer correct, you can add an additional point to the grade item manually.

    Unfortunately, this is the only available workaround.
