Alternatively, I could set it up such that a PDF is available for download only after the user completed a quiz or something.

    Hi @Yi Yan.L.782,

Yes, you can track when a learner downloads course content, through the Class Progress tool.

Class Progress lets you monitor when a user accesses the course and downloads course content, as long as the content meets the required criteria (they have access, they’re in the Classlist, and the topic uses a Required Manual or Required Automatic completion method and is not exempt).

If you do not see Class Progress in your instance, you may need to contact your organization administrator to enable the permissions.

Thanks for your continued participation in the Brightspace Community!

    Hi Aasim, thanks.

Would like to ask further - Is it possible to track the downloads statistics of an upload PDF in Brightspace? i.e. not just downloads by user, but in entirety. I would like to know how many users had downloaded the file, and if possible, the names of the users who downloaded it as well.

    Thank you.

Thank you for your question @Yi Yan.L.782. Natively, Brightspace does not provide functionality to track actual file downloads (such as a PDF) or generate a report of users who downloaded the file. The platform can show whether learners have viewed the content item through tools like Class Progress.

    Regards,

    Jerome
