Gradebook Assign "0" to past due work
I’m working with a faculty member who set their gradebook to drop ungraded items and also selected the option to Assign a grade of “0” to unsubmitted work whose due date has passed. However, the system is not assigning zeros.
The faculty member did copy the gradebook from a colleague’s course, and I know that sometimes copied gradebook settings can cause the tool to malfunction. Is there a fix for this issue?

Hello, Misty, thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community :)
My name is Piero and I am a Product Support Analyst at D2L and I will be assisting you today.
I have just tested in my internal website and when both the "Drop ungraded items" and the "Automatically apply a grade of zero (0) to missing submissions once an assessment becomes overdue" grade settings are selected, the expected behaviour is that automatic 0 will be assigned to the overdue activities and, when hovering your mouse cursor above then, a "Automatic zero. Missing submission on the due date." message should appear.
If the issue are describing is only affecting Quizzes, then this could be related to this Known Defect that has been recently identified and causes some Users to not receive the automatic zero as expected.
If this not happening with Quizzes, I will ask you to, please, open a support case with us and we will be more than glad to further assist you, okay?Thank you kindly and have a lovely weekend ahead,
