Issue Using The Text Tool to Comment Assignments
Why is it that when grading assignments, when you select the TEXT cursor and write a comment on an assignment, you MUST go back to the toolbar and select the cursor again to write the next comment? I am so frustrated. I am a creative writing professor and Canvas user, new to Brightspace, and this is wasting me a lot of time to have to click the TEXT cursor over and over again. Am I doing something wrong? In Canvas. once you select Text commenting, it stays in that mode and you can continue to write text comments onto the assignment. But in Brightspace, when I write text directly onto the assignment, I must go to the toolbar and select the "T" again to write the next comment. I took a screenshot of the toolbar and the "T" tool for reference. I can't keep doing this. Is there a way to stay in commenting mode to finish one whole assignment? Please help.

Hi Camille,
Thank you for reaching out to the D2L Brightspace Community! Based on what you are describing, it seems to be expected behaviour of the annotations tool at the moment. Currently the feature selecting the icon once and reuse it multiple times to add more annotations is only supported for attached annotation items. See screenshot below.
Related to note, textbox, line, arrow, or rectangle annotations, the workflow is currently not supported but we have an existing PIE item open in our Product Idea Exchange platform where our clients have reported this and we are currently gathering feedback so that this feature could be added to the annotations tool. I would suggest you to upvote this item via below URL:

Hi Camille,
I checked with our community team and their suggestion was to submit a new PIE item on our Product Idea Exchange Platform. I am sharing the URL with you for ease of access:
D2L Product Idea Exchange: Post Idea
Please feel free to reach out in case you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Unaib
