Learning path creation

Hello,

I want to create a page allowing learners to select an option from a multiple choices question, such that they can view different module / unit based on their selected answer.

I try to add a ungraded Survey at the very beginning of a course but there is no release condition of "based on selected answer in a Survey". Similarly, I try to add a Quiz but there're way too many steps for users (launch Quiz > Quiz summary > Quiz question > Submit quiz > confirm submission > done a quiz). What I want is just a simple page or radio buttons list and learners can select and view the corresponding module(s).

Can you advise what's the best way to do it in Brightspace please?

Regards,

P.S. I also try to create Learning Group and define Learning Path but it is overwhelming by creating the Learning Group, user groups and group assignment.

    Hello Colt,

Thanks for reaching out via Community. My name is Mian, and I am a Product Support Analyst at D2L. I have reviewed your question, and unfortunately, there is no existing feature which allows you to view certain modules based on survey or quiz answers.

A workaround that I tested internally is creating multiple quizzes corresponding to the number of modules. You may follow the same concept using surveys if you prefer that. Generally, these quizzes will just have a single multi-select question and only 1 option, which states 'I confirm I am interested in this topic'. After creating the first quiz, you may copy and paste to save time and make the small edits afterwards.

Suppose there are three modules: x, y, and z. You will then have 3 quizzes, for example:

    • Quiz 1: Interested in topic x
    • Quiz 2: Interested in topic y
    • Quiz 3: Interested in topic z

Each of these quizzes will have Release conditions that ensure only 1 quiz can be taken.

    For example:

Quiz 1 will have release conditions that the

    • user has not completed an attempt on the quiz: Interested in topic y
    • user has not completed an attempt on the quiz: Interested in topic z

Quiz 2 will have release conditions that the

    • user has not completed an attempt on the quiz: Interested in topic x
    • user has not completed an attempt on the quiz: Interested in topic z

Quiz 3 will have release conditions that the

    • user has not completed an attempt on the quiz: Interested in topic x
    • user has not completed an attempt on the quiz: Interested in topic y

From above, all quizzes will initially be available, but as soon as a quiz is submitted, the others will no longer be visible to the user, and the module associated with the quiz will become available to the user.

I realize this may be an unconventional solution; however, it will help you achieve what you desire.

I can see the usefulness of such a feature in Brightspace and would like to suggest flagging the desired functionality as a new feature or Product Idea on the Brightspace Community. Posting the idea will allow you to communicate directly with the Product Planning Team and other Brightspace users. If this idea gets many upvotes, it is very likely that it will become part of Brightspace in the future.
