Parent and Guardian Association

Hi everyone,
We are attempting to create associations between Parent and Guardian role and their child/student. However, I am only finding documentation with API information and mention of the CSV. When attempting to use the CSV, there is limited information so I am unsure the structure that is required. Hoping for some assistance.
This is the post I used for reference: https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/4775-brightspace-parent-guardian-administrator-checklist

Hi Mauricio.M,
The .csv file format is discussed in the following resource:
In short, each student would be represented by a row in the .csv file.
The relationship is established on the values in the username field in column 3 e.g. sstudent and the username(s) in the relationships field in column 11 e.g. jparent1 and pparent1 in the example below.
user,UPDATE,sstudent,sstudent1,Sammy,Student,,1,Student,sstudent@brightspacedemo.com,Parent:jparent1|Parent:pparent1,Sam,,,
The student and parent user accounts must exist in Brightspace before tying to establish the relationship.
Hope that helps!

Hi Chris, thank you for your response. Do we upload this csv in the Bulk User Management tool?
We keep getting errors, even the required header template returns an errortype,action,username,org_defined_id,first_name,last_name,password,is_active,role_name,email,relationships,pref_first_name,pref_last_name,sort_last_name,pronouns

Hello @Mauricio.M.448
Yes, you can upload the file under Bulk user management. To get the format for the CSV file, you can click on the "View instructions on creating your CSV file" under under Bulk user management.
You can download the respective templates as per the Action as needed. Regarding the fields you see here,
Ex: CREATE, *Username, *First Name, *Last Name, *Role Name, *Email
They are controlled and and can be changed user Admin tools>Form elements:
