Students who didn't attempt a Quiz still need to be able to see solutions?

I use daily quizzes in my class as a sort of "barometer" for students to make sure they've understood the concepts for the day. I've set the quizzes to "When published, display to learners: All questions, with correct answers". As I understand it, this means once I publish the quiz, students who made attempts will see their answers, see the correct answers, and have access to my long "Overall Feedback" for each question.

But what about students who, for whatever reason, never made an attempt on that quiz? I still need them to see the Overall Feedback, and questions/correct answers, so they can learn from the quiz just the same. How do I do this?

    Hello Emerson,

Currently, Brightspace does not have the functionality to show students the Overall Feedback, and
questions/correct answers, if the student has not attempted the Quiz.

    Warm regards,

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

That's totally absurd. So they're useless as a teaching tool for the whole class. Is there a plan to implement this functionality?

Can I force student attempts myself so they can see the solutions/feedback?

  • Hi Emerson,

Thanks for your follow-up. Currently, there’s no way to force an attempt on behalf of a student in Brightspace. Attempts must be initiated by the learner.

I agree that this is a limitation. You might consider submitting a feature request through your institution’s Brightspace support contact or directly via the Brightspace Community Product Idea Exchange.

In fact, there’s already a related idea you can support here:
https://desire2learn.brightidea.com/ideas/D8953?idea_count=7 (Allow instructors to view or release quiz feedback to students who did not attempt). Adding your vote or comment can help bring more visibility to this request.

Let me know if that answers your question.

    Best regards,
