How to add dates to modules without limiting access to content?
Hello,
I work at a university that recently transitioned to using Brightspace, and we’re encountering a challenge in replicating a feature that was available in our previous LMS, Moodle. Specifically, our instructors are accustomed to having weekly modules or units that include clear start and end dates, which helps students understand the weekly schedule.
In Moodle, we were able to include these dates, but we haven’t been able to figure out how to implement this functionality in Brightspace. Additionally, we would like to find a solution that is easy to update each semester, without having to manually adjust the dates each time.
We’ve attempted adding start and end dates to individual modules/units, but this approach has resulted in restricted access to content once the end date has passed, preventing students from viewing materials they may need for future reference. We also cannot modify settings to allow students to view restricted content, as certain courses have materials that should remain inaccessible (e.g., Instructor Resources).
Ideally, we’re looking for a solution that allows us to set weekly start and end dates for modules/units without the limitations that come with content restrictions, such as the one shown in the attached image.
I’d appreciate any suggestions or best practices on how to implement this functionality in Brightspace.
Thank you in advance!

Hello @Ryan.R.9286
Not sure if this would work for your goals: Ignoring the "Add Dates and Restrictions" area, just enter Text with your dates. I like the lines as it helps bring the readers attention to the area. It easy enough to update each semester but still is a manual process. If you do enter in actual dates, then as you experienced the content is restricted to those dates.
