Based on the September 2026 (20.26.09) release notes, users will no longer be able to create new Self Assessments using the Self Assessments tool beginning with the January 2027 release. However, will instructors still be able to import Self Assessments into a new course using the Import/Export/Copy Components tool after the January 2027 release?

Yes, instructors will still be able to import existing Self Assessments into a new course using the Import/Export/Copy Components tool after the January 2027 release. According to the September 2026 Brightspace release notes, January 2027 is when instructors will no longer be able to create new Self Assessments. However, the option to copy, import, or export existing Self Assessments will remain available until the May 2027 (20.27.05) release. After that, the tool will no longer support these functions. Brightspace is also introducing an option to move existing Self Assessments into the Quizzes tool so instructors can continue using their questions without losing their work.
