New Layout - what benefits?

Hi,

My D2L space is now fixed to the new view.

When I show a lesson, the space for that is now less than 25 % of the screen's area. I'm finding it very difficult to teach while more than 75 % of the screen is useless.

(Yes, the full screen button is a thing. The first thing I hear after using it is, "how did you get there? Where are you? as the students no longer see the address path.)

Please help me see any benefits of the new view.

All content experiences are currently supported by D2L. However, some organizations have chosen to fully adopt the New Content Experience, so the option to switch between experiences may depend on your organization’s administrator settings and decision. We recommend connecting with your institution or administrator for more information about this change.

Regarding screen space, this is one of the main reasons D2L introduced Immersive View in July. It provides a much larger area for lesson content, and the experience will be further improved with collapsible side navigation coming in October 2026. D2L is also continuing to improve the standard New Content Experience, including plans to introduce collapsible side navigation in that view soon.
