Alternative Sign-In Options for Brightspace

Hi everyone,

We’re using Brightspace with the Creator+ package and were wondering if it supports alternative sign-in options like face recognition, fingerprint login, or voice-to-text. Some of our users find it difficult to type in their username and password, so we’re exploring more accessible login methods. Are any of these features available or supported through integrations? and if yes, how should we add or enable them?

Brightspace does not natively support the biometric login methods mentioned, such as face recognition or fingerprint authentication. Aside from the local login, the platform relies on standard username/password authentication, often integrated with institutional Single Sign-On (SSO) systems such as SAML, OAuth, or LDAP.

Although this isn’t an inherent feature, an integration could theoretically be implemented at the SSO level. Because biometric login happens at the device or identity provider level, and Brightspace accepts the authenticated session, if your IDP supports the workflow, this could be possible.
