How can I remove the calendar event associated with content start date?

How can I remove the calendar event associate with content start date? I want to schedule content to become visible to learners at the appropriate date/time without it displaying as an event on the calendar. I have several content pages (i.e. PDFs like session slides) that I want to become visible just at the time of the live session for learners to follow along. However, it is distracting to have so many "events" on the calendar.

I have tried hiding it from the calendar

Via Calendar

  1. Go to Calendar
  2. Select List
  3. Select relevant events
  4. More Actions > Select Visibility > Hidden
  5. Save

The visibility doesn't actually change though.

Via Manage Dates

  1. Select relevant Content
  2. The Calendar checkboz is greyed out and cannot be unchecked.

How can I achieve removing these content availabilities from the calendar?
