Organization Files

I'm in learning mode in my LMS environment, as I'm taking over from a retired colleague.
When I look at Organization Files > Manage Files > Content I see many semester level folders, but they are all empty. FYI: They were also created in 2018, weirdly they end 25W which is when I'm taking over.
I'm wondering why the previous guy may have made these and if they aren't needed can I delete them.
In doing my Admin training my theory is that this is an alternate method of creating and managing courses. We use IPSIS so I'm 'assuming' (which is dangerous :-)) that the files are being stored in a different location. If that is true, do you know where they'd be stored that I can review from an Admin perspective?
Much thanks,
Randy

Hello @Randy.R.20,
Congratulations on the journey you're about to embark in your new role.
The Organization Files tool is a type of file explorer for your learning environment. Its difficult to determine from a screenshot alone what those folders might contain or how they are being utilized within your setup; therefore, one cannot advise as to whether it is safe to delete those folders. For example, however unlikely, even if the folders themselves are empty, it is possible that those folders could serve as a location from which or to which another process is getting/posting files.
With respect to where course files might be managed, a typical setup would be to have each course have its own folder. Courses folders typically are grouped under a common parent folder labeled 'enforced' (found at the root of Organization Files), but again, that too could vary depending on one's Brightspace setup.
To confirm a course offering's course path — the location where its files are stored — roles with sufficient permissions can visit either
a) Course Offering Information page, accessible from within Course Admin at the course level
b) Org Unit Editor, accessible via Admin Tools (Cog Wheel Icon)
All of this said, I would recommend you reach out to D2L Admin Support for further analysis, or perhaps connecting with your organization's account representatives to arrange for someone with sufficient D2L Access and subject matter expertise to review your environment and its processes to determine if those folders can be safely removed without impact.
I hope that helps!
