Trying to determine cumulative grade
I have been reading the posts about final grades and viewed the video, but I think I may be missing something.
I want the cumulative grade "so far" to appear BUT the grades I'm seeing seems to be calculated on the work done so far, divided by the points of the assignments completed. For example:
Why isn't the denominator the same for everyone? For example, the person with 83 out of 92 may have a 90% based on those numbers, but they haven't done as much work as the person who got 133/170. What does these % mean then? We post midterm grades, so should we not use the final grade showing and calculate outside, e.g. export to Excel?

Hi @Paula.C.2956,
Thank you for reaching out with your question regarding the calculation of the final calculated grade in a grade book.
The denominator is often determine by the total Weight of all the grade items. Based on the details you have shared, it would be helpful to review the grade book in question to provide an accurate response. To do so, I would suggest we open a support case.
Please access the ASC Support Portal to find a new created case.
Thank you,

@Paula.C.2956 Hi Paula, your gradebook is probably set to Exclude ungraded items so if a student does not yet have a grade for a particular item, it is not counted against them and the points are not yet included in the current total. You could use a Calculated grade item to include only certain grade items that everyone has received grades for so far.

Thank you John. I replied to your email.
Thanks, Jennifer. This is what I was starting to suspect and wasn't sure how to check further.
Your responses are really helpful and much appreciated.
