Cannot overwrite files anymore!
Hello!
Last fall, I was able to upload a file with the same name and could choose whether to replace the file with this new one or upload as a copy. This feature is not there anymore, and it is SUCH A HASSLE. I have to delete the old file, upload the new file, and then relink any linked documents in D2L.
Has this feature been removed? Do I need to change a setting? Please help!
Thank you

Hello @Mary.S.6991,
Thank you for contacting the Brightspace Community with your question.
Regarding your question, I am not entirely sure about the process you followed before, but I have found an article that might be helpful for updating files in Brightpace. Please review the following steps:
- From your course navbar, click Content.
- From the table of contents, select the .PDF, Word, .PPT, or image file you want to replace.
- Click the Options menu and then select, Edit.
- Click Replace.
- Select the updated file you want to add from your computer, course files, or a public file.
- Click Add.
The selected file is replaced.
I hope this information is helpful.

Pilar,
Thank you! It doesn't work quite the way you mentioned, but I was able to extrapolate. I have no options menu or edit/replace. I can click "change file" if I click "edit properties in place."
Can you let me know how to choose "Options."
That helps SO MUCH!!!

Hello @Mary.S.6991,
I am glad to hear that the information was helpful.
It seems you might be using the Old Experience Content. You can follow these steps instead:
- From your course navbar, click Content.
- From the table of contents, select the .PDF, Word, .PPT, or image file you want to replace.
- Click the contextual menu next to the file and click View Topic.
- Once the file is open, Click the contextual menu next to the title and select Change File.
- Select the updated file you want to add from your computer, course files, or a public file.
- Click Update.
The selected file is replaced.
I hope this information is helpful.
