Hi @Lynn.B.961, thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community!

Instructors with the required role permissions (d2l.Tools.WYSIWYG.Mention configuration variable must be turned on) can use @mention push notifications to direct a message to learners using the Pulse app. When a user is @mentioned , that user is notified of the message.

These notifications can be viewed in the Pulse Notifications > Subscriptions area and are still available in Discussions.

    Hope this helps!

As a follow up, if an instructor sends an Instant Message via the Instant Messaging tool on a computer to a student, will the student see it on the Pulse App? We haven't been able to get that to work.

    Hell Lynn,

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, the Pulse App does not support the Instant Messaging Tool directly within the app itself. If the user accesses the their grades, assignments or a module that would take them to Brightspace within a browser then the students would be able to see the Instant Messaging Tool as they would on a computer.

I hope that answers your question. Kindly let me know if you have further questions or concerns.
