Hello. My district is in the process of implementing Brightspace and will be starting our pilot very soon. There are options when setting up email in Brightspace and I'm wondering which way most districts/authorities have gone. Brightspace Email (Course Mail) seems the most similar to what I am familiar with in Moodle. Users can send and receive messages in Brightspace. Is this what most districts/authorities have opted for? The other option, External Mail, allows users to send but not receive email from Brightspace. Sent messages go to the users' email address. I'm feeling nervous and hoping for some guidance! Thanks.

  • Hello @Claire.T.4029 ,

Thank you for contacting us via Brightspace Community!

Most organizations use one of three common email configuration options:

    • Send-only email - where users can send emails but cannot receive them, with no storage required as sent messages aren't stored.
    • Course email - which provides an internal email system for communication within Brightspace only, with pre-populated address books.
    • Full email - Allowing users to send and receive emails to both internal and external contacts, offering the most comprehensive solution.

I am sharing KB article for more detailed information about Email and how to setup email for your organization.
