Will Brightspace automatically send all students registered for my class the welcome announcement? Do I need to recreate it for multiple notifications? And will Brightspace populate the class address book automatically with registered students' email addresses?

Hi Vivien

If your students are subscribed to New and/or Updated Announcements (on the Notifications page) then, in addition to seeing it in Brightspace, they will get an email with that notification (*Presuming your notification emails have not been disabled entirely in the Config Variable Browser).

If you wanted students to receive it again, you could update the announcement or create a new one. Also consider using the Intelligent Agent tool to send emails to all users Criteria = "Enrolled in the Current Org Unit as {Rolename}" which you could manually trigger as desired.

If you're using the Address Book in the course then it should show whatever External Email Address value is present in Brightspace for each user. This is controlled by Permissions, both that you have permission to "See External Email for {Rolename}" and "Send Emails to External Email Addresses" (*There are also Internal Email Addresses if your site is configured for Full Mail (where you can see an Inbox in Brightspace))
