Share calendar events across multiple courses

Question

Is it possible to share/post calendar events across multiple courses just like you can with assignments, announcements, etc? This saves a lot of time in instructional environments where there are frequent opportunities and events that are not preplanned.  (so recommendations like exporting/importing are not ideal).  This is a feature in Google Classroom and very useful.  Thank you.

Hi Travis,

Currently, we have the option to create calendar events at the course level only. Below is the article for that https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/3601-manage-course-events-with-the-calendar-tool.

Specific to your requirement unfortunately we don't have the functionality to post the same calendar event with several courses. We suggest submitting a feature request or Product Idea to address this functionality on the Brightspace Community. By posting the idea, you can communicate directly with the Product Planning Team and other Brightspace users. To submit an idea, log in to Brightspace Community and follow the steps outlined in the Knowledge Base article:

Ideally I'm looking for an option like what currently exists for assignments and announcements, where it's possible to easily cross-post a new individual event across all calendars for various courses.  I appreciate your response but was hoping for a method that wasn't an import/export process, but rather a seamless shared posting.  Thanks all the same!

Hi!

This is such a great question. You can do this by going into your course tool menu and then selecting Copy/Import/Export course components. From here you can check off to copy course components from another course offering and then choose to select the specific items you want to import. Calendar is one of these options, so you can uncheck all the other options, but import the calendar and that should help share the events across your courses!

If you want to import an .ical file, you can do this as well, but each one has to be imported manually. To do this, go into your course admin tools and click on calendar and then the Import button.
