Hello,
Can someone please tell me how to pull data for new user accounts created within a Brightspace environment?
Some context- I am trying to stay on top of new instructors teaching classes for the first time. Thank you very much!
Hi Marc,
Thank you for reaching out! The Data Hub tool might be helpful for what you’re trying to track. Data Hub allows administrators to access various data collections (data sets) from Brightspace and export them as CSV files for further analysis in third-party tools. You can find more information here: About Data Hub.
In particular, it sounds like the Users dataset contains the information you need. This dataset provides a list of users in your organization and includes a column called SignupDate, which indicates the date a user was created in the system (in UTC). You can learn more about this dataset here: Users Data Sets.
To access this data:
Please note that the availability of the Data Hub tool depends on your roles and permissions. If you don’t see it in your Navbar, this may indicate that you do not have the required permissions to access the tool.
Let me know if you have further questions or need assistance!
Best regards,
I know this response was back in December of 2024. But I just have to ask this question. This comes from 20+ years of working with databases and my continued confusion with the way the Datasets are created in Brightspace. Who in the world thought the name SignupDate was a good name for the column that gives the date the user account was created? In most other DataSets , the column is named DateCreated for columns that have the description, "Date when the ——— was created (UTC)." Why be different here? This column has the SAME description as all other columns named DateCreated. Sometimes the field is named:CreatedAt (1 time) - "Date the recipient was created (UTC)",CreateDate (13 times) - 8 times the description is: "Date when this item was initially/originally created (UTC)."CreationDate (5 times) - every time teh descripton is: "Date the ——— was created (UTC)"*SignupDate (1 time) - used for when USER was created Where's the consistency?
Continually confused by the Brightspace Dataset.😲
