How can teachers ensure they see student submissions immediately when they are submitted?

Hello,

One of our teachers is reporting that she is not always seeing student submissions in real time when they are submitted. As a result, she has assigned students to extra blocks of catch up time, not knowing the student has already submitted their work. The students have been able to produce their confirmation emails later on, and at thot point, confirm what is then seen on the teacher's submission log, showing they did submit their work on time. The teacher is certain that the student submissions did not appear on her end when she went in to create her original list and she states that this has happened more than once.

What steps should the teacher take to ensure that she is seeing an accurate view of her students' submissions?

  • Hi Tracy,

Thank you for reaching us through BrightSpace Community!

Instructors can set up email notifications for the Assignments when the students submit the assignments to folder.

So when you create a new assignment or edit an existing one, go to the Submission & Completion Section

In that under the Notification email setting, you can add your email address ( or multiple emails separated by a comma) to receive notifications when an assignment is submitted to the folder.

Note:  This field is only available when the assignment Submission Type  is set to File submissions or Text submissions

    .

Should have any questions, please let us know.

    Thanks

    Hello Sreelakshmi,

Thanks for that. We are aware that instructors can enable email notifications, however the teacher doesn't want to trigger 120+ emails with each assignment. She is hoping there is a way to ensure that submissions show up immediately on her teacher side within her course. This usually happens, but in a few cases, it hasn't which has led to confusion. How can she ensure that it always happens? I suggested refreshing her screen, however beyond this, we are unsure why the submissions are not coming up for her.

    Thanks again.

    Hello @Tracy.W.238,

    Thanks for your response.

When a student clicks on submit, their submission will immediately show under the submissions (View Submissions) page.

Can you confirm if the instructor is seeing otherwise? If so, can I please suggest you raise a support ticket with us for further investigation?

    Thanks,

    Rusha
