Is there a way to have draft assignment grades visible to instructors in the Gradebook?

We have faculty members who are grading assignments. If they enter a numeric grade, and then click the "Save as Draft" button, the grade and feedback are saved. However, the numeric grade does not appear in the gradebook, to the instructor, before it is published. Sometimes instructors want to go back and see the list of numeric grades, and it is very tedious to have to click students one by one, especially in large lecture classes.

Is there a way to do this or a workaround? I've tried all of the settings I can think of in both Assignments and Gradebook and cannot find anything.

  • Hi @Sarah.W.901 it looks like the only workaround for this would be to hide the column from students and publishing feedback and then showing the column once all the feedback has been completed.

I think you should definitely consider submitting a PIE for this Product Idea Exchange (3rd Party Tool)

Thanks, submitting a PIE item was going to be my next step, assuming one doesn't exist already to add votes to. :) Even if the numbers were grayed out or something to indicate they are draft, it would be helpful to faculty. It's also disconcerting to not see them in the gradebook, and gives the impression that the grades might not have been saved, or the connection between the gradebook and assignment are broken.
