When students use the "listening" feature in Brightspace (D2L), the system primarily tracks time-based on interaction with the platform rather than passive listening. The system logs time when a user is actively engaging with the content, which typically includes activities like clicking, navigating between pages, or interacting with the material in some way.
If a student only listens to content without interacting with the platform (e.g., not clicking or moving between pages), it’s possible that this activity won't be fully captured as "engagement" in the course analytics. The platform focuses more on user interaction rather than passive activities like listening or watching without interaction.
If this is a concern, you could recommend that the student regularly interact with the course, such as by clicking through different sections or completing related tasks, to ensure that their engagement is accurately logged.
