Hi all,

Is there a document I can see that lists all of the included D2L roles and their permissions? I see how to view them individually - even export them. I want a whole doc with everything if possible.

    Hi Paula.C,

The community resource available at https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/4451-about-roles-and-permissions lists out Brightspace tools and their permissions.

Regarding descriptions for the 'default' roles there is no document covering these. The descriptions added to each is a very high level view of what each has the ability to do. These roles are typically taylored during the implementation project to ensure they are a best fit for the clients immediate requirements, and then tend to evolve over time.

If wanting to investigate what each role affords in terms of tool access and functionality we recommend creating a test or demo user in that specific role and step through a typical course offering your institution makes available to learners/students. While doing this, make changes to tool and role permissions until you have alignment between what the user can do at the course offering level (or other org units) and the learner experience you are wanting to create.

Coming back to your question, I'd suggest reviewing each Brightspace role referencing the role permission outlined in the resource linked above, if necessary update the role descriptions to match.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks, Chris. This looks like it will give me what I need. We're just starting our implementation project work and setting up some testing.
