Code Blocks with Copy Button

Hi there,

I recently dicovered that you can add various type of code to code blocks using the Brightspace Editor. However, there does not seem to be a copy button with which you can also copy the code within the code blocks to the clipboard. Is this by design?

I my humble opinion it would be worthwhile to have a (optional) copy button so that users can copy the code, for instance a specific HTML markup and insert this HTMl markup to their HTML pages using the Insert Stuff option of the Editor by choosing the option embed code.

What are your thought on this issue?

Kind regards,

Arman

    Hello Arman,

    Thank you for your question!

Currently, Brightspace’s built-in Code Blocks in the Editor do not include a built-in copy button for copying code directly to the clipboard. This is by design, as the focus has been primarily on displaying code snippets for readability and formatting purposes.

However, I completely agree that adding an optional copy button could be a very useful feature, especially for those who work with HTML or other code snippets regularly in their courses. This would allow users to quickly copy and paste code, improving efficiency when embedding HTML or sharing reusable code snippets.

If you feel this would enhance your experience and benefit others, I recommend submitting this as a feature request through the Product Idea Exchange (PIE) on the Brightspace Community. The D2L development team regularly reviews such requests to prioritize new functionality based on user feedback.

Let me know if you’d like help with submitting a feature request or any other questions!

    Kind regards,
    Miguel
