HI @Erendira.D.5903 There's a new-er tool in Brightspace that has more of a social media feel to it called the Activity Feed which you could try- but you have to choose which posts you'll allow comments on.
The Discussion Tool might be another option - it's easy to set up and familiar for lots of students and it allows Students some flexibility in initiating a new kind of post provided it's under a forum that you've created
