Work To Do - How can students "Complete" a module or reading?

One of our instructors noticed that it doesn't seem like students can ever finish the modules or readings that appear in Work To Do. Since instructors put Due Dates on modules (for good reason) they appear in Work To Do but students can never clear them from their list and they become Overdue, which is confusing to students.

Hi Alexander, once an item has been completed, it will disappear from the widget. If you want a Module to disappear from the widget, we recommend adding an End Date. This is not the same as the Due Date, which will not cause the module to disappear from the Work to Do Widget!

That's a significant limitation then. Students need to have access to previous weeks content to complete future tests so using a End Date would prevent that. Is there a chance this limitation could be fixed? I'd think it wouldn't be difficult to make it so that if a student enters a module it is considered complete. Or perhaps modules could be not included in Work to Do.

I do not want to limit access to modules by putting an end date. However, I want due dates on them to keep them on track. This causes a lot of confusion for students.
