Grade Center: Combining Point-Based Grading with Category Weighting in Brightspace

I'm struggling to set up a specific grading structure in Brightspace's grade center. Here's what I'm trying to achieve:
I have 4 categories (or semester units) in my course.
Each category contains 4 assignments.
I want to grade each assignment using points, with each category totaling 100 points.
After calculating the point totals for each category, I want to apply different weights to these categories for the final grade calculation.
My issue: Brightspace seems to force me to choose between a weighted system or a point system for categories. When I select the weighted option, it applies the weighting to individual assignments within the category, rather than to the category's total points.
My question: Is it possible to use a point system for assignments within categories, but then apply weights to the category totals for the final grade calculation? If so, how can I set this up in Brightspace?
Any guidance or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

@Jonathan.M.939 Choose the weighted system and set the weight on the category, choosing the option Distribute weights by points across all items in the category. The points and weights will be the same in the category and the items will add up to 100 points and 100%. (All items in a category should always add up to 100%.)

Jennifer.W.973, thanks so much for your time and suggestions. I'll give this a try and a closer look - but I THINK I've tried this and I was getting conflicting results. I'll take another stab at this and see what turns up. Thanks again!
