Is there a way for students to see their final grade during the course?

I can't see to figure out a way to allow the Final Grades to be visible to students during the course. As they submit assessments, I input the grades into the Gradebook tool. Students can see their grades for individual assignments and feedback, but they cannot see their calculated overall grade up to this point.

It would be very useful for them to see how they're doing in the course overall as they go, as motivation to work harder, etc.

    Hello @Emerson.D.932

Thank you for contacting D2L through the Brightspace Community. I understand the concern raised regarding students not being able to view the final grades of the course. Several factors could be contributing to this issue, with one of the most common being the selection of the "Adjusted Final Grade" option in the current Gradebook settings.

To check and potentially resolve this issue, you can follow these steps:

    1. In the Gradebook (Enter Grades) Click on the upper right side "Settings."
    2. Go to the "Calculation Options" tab.
    3. Scroll down to "Final Grade Released."
    4. Switch from "Adjusted Final Grade" to "Calculated Final Grade."

Please try this suggested solution and let us know if it resolves the reported issue. If the problem persists, If the problem persists, I recommend either opening a support case with us or notifying us so that we can create one and further investigate the issue.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

    Best regards,

@Emerson.D.932 Final grades are not released automatically to students. You have to change your grade book settings before entering any grades or manually release the final grades.

For new courses where you haven't entered grades yet, change the grade book settings on the Calculation Options tab to enable Automatically release final grade and Automatically keep final grades updated so that students will always know how they are doing throughout the semester. (However, if you also change the grade calculation to Treat ungraded items as 0, grades won't actually be correct until everything is graded.)

Since you have already entered grades in this course, you will need to manually release final grades so that students can see them. Click the down arrow next to the title of the final grade item that you are using and choose Enter Grades. Then select all the students and click Release/Unrelease and Save and Close. You should see the eye icon next to the final grades which indicates that they are now visible to students.
