Can I integrate an additional feature inside D2L to import student grades from an outside source?

I want to create/integrate a feature, e.g., a new Activity, that would allow me to import students' grades from an outside source like GitHub or GitHub Classroom. Is there any API I can use for that?

It sounds like you would want to use GitHub Classroom's LTI connector.

I imagine students would need to access GitHub via Brightspace but then it could pass grades back to Brightspace.

Alternatively there are import/export options in the Brightspace gradebook, or you could do something via the API https://docs.valence.desire2learn.com/res/grade.html but it feels like that would be reinventing the wheel.
