Why is completed work appearing in overdue box?

Hello

Why do some learners who have completed a quiz before a deadline date still have a message in their overdue 'work to do' box?

I have checked the class progress and it shows that learner has completed the quiz several times.

Might be worth checking that it is the quiz itself that is showing and not a content module with the same name which has a due date set - for some reason those stay in Work to Do.
