How do you restore accidentally retracted comments?

I was editing a student essay in a Dropbox folder using the editing window with the add comments tool. When I switched away from the full screen view and wanted to update or save my comments, I accidentally hit retract instead. Is there a way to restore my comments from system logs, or do I have to manually insert all my comments again?
