How to find out who hasn't done the discussion or quiz

We have a teacher who wants to use either quizzes or discussions to get a short responses from all students in the class. She wants to be able to quickly see a list of who hasn't done the discussion or quiz. She might also want to be able to email students who haven't done that item yet. We don't see a way to filter by those who have not submitted work yet like we see in assignments. Is this possible?

Thank you for reaching out to us via the Brightspace Community.

To view users who have not taken the attempt in a Quiz, you can follow these steps:

1. Go to the course > Quizzes > In the Manage Quizzes page, click on the dropdown arrow 'v' next to the quiz name > Grade
2. In the Users search tab, Click on 'Show Search Options'
3. Add the filter > Restrict to 'Users who have not taken an attempt'
4. Then do an empty search, it will show the list of users who haven't taken the quiz.

For Discussions, you can use Discussion Statistics.
Discussion Statistics is an overview of the activity levels in your Discussions. This area is divided into two tabs: User and Forum and Topics. Org Unit Statistics are displayed on either tab.

1. Go to the course > Discussions Tool
2. You can see the Statistics tab on that page

For emails, you can set up an Intelligent Agent to email all users who have not posted to a discussion topic, or who have not submitted a quiz.
