It could be that your assignment is not linked to its respective grade item in your course Grade Book.
If that is the case, then you must edit it to link: In the Assignments tool,
Click the dropdown menu right next to the desired assignment > Go to Edit
Now if your activity is not linked to your grade book yet, click the "Grade Out of" field.
Next, you will be prompted to link it to an existing grade item or create a new one:
When you click on "Edit or Link to Existing", you will be prompted to either select an existing grade item or create a new one.
