What happens when I null a students grade?

If I change a student's grade to null will he be able to take the quiz again if the quiz has a limit of one time?

    I don't know what will happen if you null the grade but instead give them special access and override the number of attempts.

    The student reported back that he is not allowed to take the quiz. So I had to give him special access with 2 attempts. So the grade book has no way of deleting a grade so the student can try again?
