How can we enable letter grades rather than points in Assignments?

We have tried creating a letter grade scheme in the Grades tool. This doesn't seem to impact the "Grade Out Of" field when creating a new Assignment. How can teachers change the field that says Points to reflect the letter grade scheme instead?

I should note that our district uses 3 different assessment scales (elementary use mastery, middle school use letter grades, and high school use percentages).

I don't think you can change from points within each tool. Only percentages are sent to the gradebook from each tool, so it needs to be based on points earned/maximum points possible.

You just have to create a scheme in the gradebook that will change the calculated percentage to whatever you specified, but that will only show in the gradebook.
