Re: Yikes!! "Unsubscribe from notification emails" in the March 2025/20.25.03 release notes
I have very similar concerns. I could accept it if it also introduced an option in the announcements tool to also send an email regardless of notification settings, but as described in the release notes there are a lot of unintended consequences to this one. Or perhaps if it only unsubscribed from a single class of notifications - I wouldn't want somebody getting overwhelmed with new/updated content notifications accidentally also blocking announcements for example.
Re: Turnitin not providing submission button/needing administrator permission to remove from assignment
I think your instructor is describing Turnitin functionality to request deletion, which requires approval by the Tii administrator for your institution.
Re: Announcements Data Set - IsPinned flag?
That is a great suggestion, Kristi! We can share this feedback with the Product team. You should be able to see this in Release Notes when this Brightspace Data Set is available.
What drives the "No Response" stat in Quiz Statistics?
I have an exam that, when I look at the Quiz Statistics, it shows 4 No Responses. However, when I manually look at the attempts on this question, there are:
- 3 first attempts
- 2 learners selected true
- 1 learner left the question empty with "Not saved"
So where are the other 3 "no response" attempts? We DO have some extra attempts (e.g. Attempts 2 and 3, but they a note, "Correct on previous attempt(s)," but my Statistics filter is set to only show First Attempts.
Re: Removing evaluator when there is only 1
I haven't had this problem myself but if it were me, I would just leave the Faculty as the Evaluator if the class is already in session. If it's not in session, you could perhaps just recreate the assignment from scratch and see what happens.
The documentation about assigning Evaluators
suggests to me that maybe either a completely unexplained error happened…. or somebody clicked "Select Evaluators," which started the workflow, and then clicked "Save" (instead of "Cancel") and so now it's stuck where it is (?).
If you don't want to bother with assigning Evaluators in a course, I think the key is to not touch the setting for it. This is what ours look like when there's only one instructor… we don't click the link and we have no problems.
Re: When is Connection Europe 2025?
I don't think it's been announced, but I think there were strong hints of it being UK/Ireland as last year was Amsterdam.
Re: Possibility of wordcount menu in Discussion Post Page
@Adeyemi.A.8548 Hi Adeyemi, the word count should display automatically when you are assessing topics. It will be under the title of the post/reply, right after the date.
However, when just viewing topics the d2l.Tools.Discuss.TextStats.DisplayWordCount configuration variable must be enabled by your institution's D2L admins in order to see word counts in the Reading and Grid views.
Re: How to use a form template in the course content?
I have follow up questions!
Once you have a form and it is functioning on the LMS course appropriately:
- How can you view the learner's responses to the form?
- Can you download the results/summary of the responses externally?
Thanks!

Excluding demo or test student accounts from displaying in the grade statistics
Hi,
The view statistics option for grade items is a useful feature. However, at our university we have a demo student account (and often other test accounts or similar) that need to be excluded from any final statistics. Is there a simple way to exclude the data from test accounts? Our demo account is automatically enrolled in groups and sections too so we cannot use those to filter.
For example, in the screenshot below, there are 46 enrolled students and 1 demo account. The demo account data is contributing to the Class Statistics data. The final calculated grade statistic remains the same when I exclude the demo student account from all assessments. If I delete any assessment grades from the demo student, the minimum changes to 0 (image 2).
Am I missing something obvious?
