Hope to connect with other learners, educators and admins through here as well.

Thank you so much, Heba! This was very helpful. :-)
Re: Optional or Required
Hi Mary,
Thank you for reaching out to us through community.
You can set your course materials as Optional or Required for learners to improve their experience and manage their learning time more effectively.
To set material as Optional or Required
- From the table of contents, select the desired material.
- Click the Options (...) menu .
- Select Set as Optional or Set as Required.
You can find more details in below community article
Thanks

Help with uploading photo image to course offering via API
Hi, I'm trying to upload an image (photo jpg) to a course offering. I'm using the API listed here:
And I'm trying to follow the instructions for a "simple" upload here:
But obviously I'm doing something wrong.
I'm sending this in the body (as a postfield):
CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS => array(
'--xxBOUNDARYxx
Content-Disposition: form-data;
name="Image";
filename="module-cover.jpg"
Content-Type: image/jpg' => '',
'file'=> new CURLFILE('/path_to/module-cover.jpg'),
'--xxBOUNDARYxx--' => '')
The upload supposedly "succeeds" with a 200 response.
When I go to Course > Course Admin > Course Offering Information, the name of the image shows up as the course image, but it shows zero bytes.
If I manually add this same image via the Brightspace UI (Course Offering Information page), it works and displays as expected.
Any advice?
Thanks!
Re: When an announcement is deleted, for how long will it be able to be restored?
Hey Fernando,
The Announcement is restorable forever since it is a soft delete. You can't restore it if it is permanently deleted from the database.
Hope that helps!

Re: New Thought Leadership Notifications
Hi, everyone!
I just posted a new article on the Product Blog announcing D2L's new Beta Program, which is replacing the historical Dev Pilot and Early Access Programs.
We are excited to introduce a new and structured way of working with D2L customers on early-stage features and functionality.
As always, we welcome any thoughts and/or feedback.
Best,
Tommy Oakes, Product Operations Manager, D2L
Re: Can I make surveys worth 1 point?
@Kevin.W.490 Surveys cannot be associated with a grade item, but you can do this with quizzes. Add a mandatory multiple choice question that is worth 1 point, and set the custom weights on each answer choice to 100%. No matter what the student responds, they will receive 1 point for that question. Then any other questions can be set as bonus questions so the maximum points will remain at 1. Make sure not to check Can Exceed on the grade item so students who take the quiz will receive 1/1 (regardless of how they answer the questions.)
