Re: Way to create a question type in CSV that allows for numeric input with Errors tolerances?
Thanks for this, Stephanie! I had a look at MatLab grader.. It's quite interesting.. Two comments:
- It's a paid external resource (although amazing) - we would need a site license. Love matlab but I we just want all content hosted on one platform (D2L/brightspace). We have access the HTML templates for interactive questions & H5P for other fancy interactions :) (non-graded activities)..
- My colleague just figured out a great workaround for now for question creation.. She used R-exams —> XML code. She posted the solution on GITHUB:
I might try a python —> XML code also - will post here if so. It creates questions of the arithmetic type (again - would be AMAZING if there was an option in the csv template for arithmetic type) but this is our best other workaround so far :)
Re: When searching within an article where do you want the search function to pull answers from?
For this question, there are a few terms we want to clarify.
'Article Only' refers to the specific article page you would be visiting. For example, the Log In to Brightspace article would be the only source searched if you were using search on that page.
'Knowledge Base' would search within the entire associated library of documentation. For example, on that same article the search would then pull answers from all of Higher Education Instructor documentation, the library in which that article is published.
'Entire Site' refers to the entire Brightspace Community website, allowing the search to pull from across any Knowledge Base.
We always appreciate your feedback, please feel welcome in posting a comment to this poll thread!
Re: Customizing unit tabs in Lessons view
Thank you, Remko. I appreciate you also adding your feedback. I saw this item added to PIE so I voted on it. You should too :-)
Re: Customizing unit tabs in Lessons view
I wasn't able to comment here when I made a new account, so then I made a new topic:
Re: Customizing unit tab colors in Lessons view (part 2 😉)
Hi Remko! First of all - thanks for all the context you've given here. As I'm sure you've seen the answer on the other discussion post, I will only add to the information previously given by my colleague.
In our Product Idea Exchange, there are some similar product suggestions to this one you've raised. I would encourage you to vote and/or comment your thoughts on this suggestion to help bring this to the attention of our Product team.
Thank you so much for your valuable insight.
Customizing unit tab colors in Lessons view (part 2 😉)
I just found this discussion topic and was posting a reaction because I had exactly the same question: https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/discussion/3312/customizing-unit-tabs-in-lessons-view
Since it seems to be impossible to comment on a discussion marked as "Answered" I've made this new question here in the Accessibility-section. Let's paste my comment here:
🙂 I, too, would really like to change these unit tab colors.
🧑🏫 Being a designer and visual thinker myself I know how important color-coding can be in communicating the right structure / concepts to students. For some neurotypes (of people, students) it this is more important than for others, but in the end everyone profits (subconsciously) from well chosen colors that are aligned throughout a course.
🤔 I can imagine it's impossible to have this functionality being implemented before my course starts in January, so:
❓Is there a workaround (CSS?) at this moment?
Thanks!
Re: Help accessing additional data points
HI @Desmond.H.207
I think there may be a few ways our Optimization Services Team can lend a hand to review your data strategy and other tools that can be used to help you get more of what you're pointing to here.
I'm going to pass your question to your Customer Success Management Team to see if we can have them set up a meeting to review your current process and see how we can help connect you to Data Services.
Re: Time zones and deadlines
Hi Kate,
Hopefully the following is useful, you've possibly already explored the options below.
Create groups of Learners aligning with the 4 time zones in all courses
Some clients already do this for location/campus of enrolment in all course offerings
Option 1: Set the assessment activity in local time e.g. MDT time
Using the Special Access options to manage individualised due dates for group members of the other 3 time zones.
Option 2: Create 4 separate assessment activities each with a due date aligning with the local time
Release the activity to the respective timezone group
The Manage Dates tool could be used to edit the due dates in bulk if appropriate to use
Option 3: Standardise assessment availability and due dates across your Brightspace platform aligning to 'window' that will work for ADT, CST, MDT PDT time zones e.g. 8AM PDT - 8PM PDT
Another option is to force a learners timezone to align with MDT etc. but this of course creates additional issues and places the burden onto the Learner to resolve timezone issues - a non option if you like!
The option to set an availability and due date flag reflecting a users timezone - e.g. 6PM 'in user timezone' is a good one. If you haven't already done so please consider making a submission into the Product Idea Exchange
Fingers crossed community members have additional suggestions and ideas for you to consider.
Hope that helps!
