Re: Competency tool vs Learning Outcomes

One consideration to make when switching from the Competency tool to Learning Outcomes is around which Content Experience your courses are using. Classic Content only supports associations with the Competency tool, while New Content Experience supports both Competencies and Learning Outcomes (although only one can be set up in each course).

Regarding when a migration is to take place, this is currently dependent on your organization's own timelines, and an analysis around which tool best meets the needs of your organization.

I'm interested in a couple of features.

One-click rubric grading - one click selects all the criteria in a column at once. But then individual rows can be re-graded/adjusted as needed rather than the current setup where each criteria row needs to be individually clicked. I don't even want to do the math on how many clicks I endure in semester to grade all assignments across all of my courses.

Annoucements where instructor have the ability to allow comments or not. Sometimes students may want to ask questions or interact with course announcements.

Assignment comments should be able to be threaded. Students often ask questions in the comments when assignments are submitted. If I respond and have additional questions, there should be an option for us to engage in a conversation about their work within the assignment.

While grading an assessment, please allow the instructor to "Retract All" feedback at any point. Currently each and every student (even those who did not submit anything) must have feedback Published before the "Retract All" button appears. This seems like an unnecessary limitation.

I would like to be able to preview grade statistics (with the assessment hidden) as grading progresses (not only at the end). To see Grade Statistics, I understand that I must Publish the grades, but there is no way to "Retract All" unless all students have been given feedback.

Yes, somehow, I figured out the one with the name (having a computer programming background may have helped - I teach studio and digital art now :). However, as my imagination suggested, I hoped there may be additional curly brace meta-labels. It will be lovely to incorporate as much dynamic info as possible (avoiding reductions in effectiveness, of course). I don't want to bulk up the reading for my dual-credit students; I hope to encourage a happy and connected feeling in them. And see what else D2L gives us regarding features that help us achieve more profound connection and engagement.

I've been working in D2L for roughly 2 years now. I enjoy it, though sometimes I think I see opportunities for specific features or alternate approaches to things. I will, however, slow my roll and listen and learn since it is evident in the discussions that a great deal of insight is sitting at the table. But the point I wanted to make in this paragraph is that I am super-hyped about Creator+ and Gamification! WOW! YESSS!!! The new look, alone, has very, very apparent power. …Can't wait.

I do wonder if there is any talk about two things: 1) color blocks - an object that can be added and then content (text, images) placed in/on top of it. 2) frames for the same. I have often grabbed a screenshot to drop into a lesson, and its edges are invisible because of the white perimeter and the white space.

Anyway, I do greatly look forward to learning and participating here.
