Re: How can I test functionality of the adaptive release rules I created?
Hey @Sarah.R.744,
Thank you for the clear explanation of your testing! In this case, to test the release conditions you've set-up on course content I recommend actually logging in with your test/mock learner account, rather than impersonating.
As you've noted, impersonation does not track a user's progress through course content, therefore by actually logging in as your test learner, content progress will be tracked & the release condition of viewing all the content pages can be satisfied.
Hope that clarifies😊
Jacqueline
Re: error when clicking into course: An embedded page at cdn.lcs.brightspace.com ...
Hi everyone,
This issue is happening because the course is using an older version of the widget and the user most likely has the previous version of the widget cached.
Clearing the browser cache should fix the issue.
This is a good reminder that this is the hosted version of the Visual Table of Contents widget, and these versions are going to be end-of-life. The better solution (long term) would be to migrate the course homepages to the System version of this widget, as it doesn't have this problem.
You can read more about End Of Life of the Widget here:
Re: Assignments not synching to gradebook
Hi @Anna.C.85!
Thank you for reaching us through the Brightspace Community.
It could be that your assignment is not linked to its respective grade item in your course Grade Book.
If that is the case, then you must edit it to link:
In the Assignments tool,
Click the dropdown menu right next to the desired assignment > Go to Edit
Now if your activity is not linked to your grade book yet, click the "Grade Out of" field.
Next, you will be prompted to link it to an existing grade item or create a new one:
When you click on "Edit or Link to Existing", you will be prompted to either select an existing grade item or create a new one.
I hope this is helpful.
Re: What does making a quiz question mandatory really mean?
Good question! By default, a learner would be able to submit a quiz without selecting/typing an answer for any of the questions. Making one or more of them mandatory requires them to answer those prior to the quiz being able to submit.
Hope that helps! 😁
Re: What are the meanings of the Learning Object Status codes?
Hi @Francis U.,
In my experience, the "Status" of a Learning Object is effectively just an organization tool, and used as another mechanism for tagging / filtering content in a Repository. It gives you another criteria to filter against while searching, and also allows you to utilize internal processes around publishing (e.g. if there is an approval process for content), without needing to put unnecessary information in the description, keywords, etc.
Hope this helps!
Re: Brightspace Pulse tips for Voiceover, or Screen Reader/text-to-speech application users?
Thank you for your question, Jamie. There is a great course that offers more information on Screen Readers in general here:
and another article
.
Within the course, you will see some resources at the end for mobile devices in particular: TalkBack and VoiceOver.
Cheers!
Re: Instructor experience documentation for Merged Courses?
When merging a course, the two (or more) courses are merged into one main course with multiple sections.
As per the above links dealing with Sections, they will divide your class and can help manage large enrollments. Sections make it easier to organize assistants, assignments, and grades.
When sections exist for a course, users only see learning materials and users from their own section. Release conditions are available to make content, assignments, etc. only available to students in a particular section. If no release conditions are added, they will be visible to all students regardless of section.
If you want users to see all users and content for a course, but be a part of a group for a specific project or activity, use the Groups tool instead.
Re: Instructor experience documentation for Merged Courses?
@Sarah.W.901 Students from one section might be able to see the names of students in other sections when looking at groups in the Classlist if the config variable d2l.tools.groups.RestrictCrossSectionGroups is OFF, which it is by default.
