Hello, we do not use Kaltura, so no Kaltura options will work. I want to share a video I have uploaded to the Media Library via a link that will be sent via email as opart of the course registration email that gets sent out. TYeh video basically shows the user how to get into brightspace from our organization's intra-net. I see no sharing options in teh media library. I knwo I can embed the video within a course, but the idea is that everyone has access to this video regardless if they are registered in any specific course or not. Can this be done without uploading to an external site klike YouTube and creating a link to it there?

Hello @Marshall.H.1186, thanks for your question!

My suggestion would be upload the video directly to Public Files within your environment (found in Admin Tools) and then link directly to the video to be played within the browser.

If the URL for your environment was marshall.brightspace.com, and the video file was named marshall_video.mp4, the address you'd use would be marshall.brightspace.com/shared/marshall_video.mp4

This URL can be accessed without the need to log into Brightspace.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions just let us know.

Trying to do this exact thing is what I was trying to do, but I could not figure out how to get the correct URL for gfiles uploaded into public files. I will try the url creation you suggest and see if that works.

This worked like a charm, thanks! When I copied the link generated from the upload, it foced a download of the item rather than just viewing, but when following your naming advice above it worked as expected!

Hello @Marshall.H.1186, so glad to hear that worked!

It sounds like you might want to try creating an HTML file and embedding the video into that, which should keep them in Brightspace rather than force the video download. I was hoping the video would play within the browser.

If you wanted to try this, when you're in Public/Shared Files, select the New File option just above the folder structure on the left. This opens the file builder for an HTML file which you could then use in the external URL.

Just another option if you wanted to check it out!

If you need any other assistance with this just let us know.
