How can I track views / logs of announcements

In Brightspace, there isn’t a way to see how many students have read a specific announcement, or which students have opened it. The Announcements tool lets you post messages, set start/end dates, and send notifications, but it does not track “read” or “unread” status for individual learners.

If you need confirmation that students have seen an important announcement, you can use a simple workaround, such as:

• Creating a short, ungraded quiz with one question:
  “I have read and understood the [topic] announcement.”
• Adding a checklist item that says “Read the [topic] announcement” and asking students to check it off.
• Creating a brief discussion topic and asking students to reply with one key takeaway from the announcement.

These tools provide activity data, so you can see who has completed the task and follow up as needed.
