Youtube videos not playing in embedded SCORM files
We are using the new content experience in Brightspace. I have imported a SCORM file (v. 1.2 created using Articulate Rise) containing some YouTube videos. When I set the SCORM file to display in the embedded player, the YouTube videos will not play. They display the error 'Video unavailable. This videos is restricted from being viewed on this domain'. I have to open the YouTube video in a new tab to play it. I realise that the SCORM display option 'Open in a new tab' is the recommended option. However, opening the SCORM within the embedded player provides a better user experience.
As the video plays when I open the window in a new tab, is Brightspace somehow restricting access to the video when it is played within the existing tab?
Has anyone experienced this issue before? Any advice?

Hi @Margaret.p.561 ,
Thank you for reaching Brightspace Community!
Incase the YouTube video is added to the Articulate content using the Embedly framework, you would need to test adding the YouTube video using <iframe> link/code to the SCORM it seems the video plays as expected using the embedded player.
In some cases it is also possible that YouTube is set to block playback on other domains.
Hope this helps !

We are experiencing the same thing in more than one course. I have tested the SCORM packages in SCORM cloud, and Review 360. The videos play no problem. Once the videos are in a course in Brightspace, they will no longer play. Has anyone found a solution for this? We are also using the New Content Experience. I also tested this in my course sandbox that does not have the New Content Experience applied and the video plays properly.

I am experiencing the same issue and can confirm that it is an issue with the New Content Experience. I put the same SCORM in a course in the old content experience and there are no issues with the video playback.

Hello Sherri,
Thanks for reaching out. I wanted to confirm, is the YouTube video embedded with an <iframe> element in the SCORM package?
Since this may be an issue that other clients are experiencing and is working for the Classic Content Experience, it might be considered a defect.
Could you kindly create a support case if you are an Approved Support Contact or have one of your administrators report this issue? You can include a working example and an unsuccessful example in the case and we will look into this matter.
